New Hartley book place in final
New Hartley Juns 3Consett 0Northumberland based New Hartley Juniors reached the Durham Youth Cup Final with a hard fought 3-0 win over a good Consett side, who were previously unbeaten this season, and who had won their league.
The first half saw Hartley in the ascendancy and they hit the woodwork three times. They struck a post and they also rattled the crossbar twice, but somehow the score remained goalless at the break.
Hartley stepped up a gear in the second half and they deservedly took the lead through Charlie Walker on 55 minutes.
Hartley striker Dan Turner then doubled the home side’s advantage just five minutes later, putting them in the driving seat.
Consett never gave up and were always still in the game until 85 minutes when Rhys McLeod finally killed them off to make it 3-0 at full time.
Hartley will now play Silksworth in Saturday’s final as they beat Horden 4-2 in other semi’.
