A good crowd at Blue Flames on a bitterly cold night saw Newcastle Benfield lift the Northumberland FA Junior Cup for the second year running.
It took extra time though after a goalless 90 minutes in which New Hartley had plenty of chances, but failed to capitalise while Benfield had appealed for an effort which appeared to cross the line in a goalmouth scramble.
The deadlock was broken in the first half of extra time. Ethan Tait was unmarked in the box and smashed the ball past Tom Craney in the Hartley goal.
Within two minutes Benfield doubled their lead, with an almost identical build-up and finish from Shane Jones gave Craney no chance.
