NEW Hartley Juniors returned to action after a three week lay of and recorded their 11th consecutive win with a 3-1 scoreline at Newton Aycliffe.
Hartley went in front on ten minutes through Kyle Downy and just two minutes later defender Liam Gillespie headed in a second.
The score remained two-nil at the interval with the visitors coming close through Sam Norris and Johnny Lowes.
These missed chances looked costly as Aycliffe pulled one back through Liam Tallentyre to make it 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining.
But a penalty for a foul on Downy was awarded and David Luke stepped up to make it 3-1 and put Hartley into the next round.
The second half also saw the introduction of Jack Stanley, who returned to play his first game since a meningitis scare in October.
Next up for Hartley is a cup tie at Ryhope on Thursday and on Saturday it is the NFA Junior Cup semi-final when Benfield Saints are the visitors with a 2pm kick-off.
