New Hartley Juniors booked their place in the semi-finals of the Durham County Cup with 3-2 win over Darlington Youth.
The home side went into the game without Jack Cooper, who was away on England trials, and top scorer Ryan McKie, who was out injured.
New Hartley made a poor start and were behind inside four minutes as Dan Wheeler scored from a corner.
Darlington were the brighter team in the first half hour, although Hartley created a few chances before half-time but failed to convert any.
The second half saw Hartley improve and Andy Knotts equalised on the hour.
New Hartley pressed forward but it was Darlington who took the lead on 79 minutes through substitute Adam Lee Shield.
But back came the home side and Lewis Xiberras levelled for a second time and with the game heading towards extra time, Xiberras marked his 18th birthday a second and the winning goal a minute from time.
There was still time for Darlington come back and Hartley keeper Tom Craney did well to hold onto a great cross to secure the win.
