New Hartley Juniors came on top in another close encounter on Saturday with a 3-2 win over Hebburn.

Following the previous week’s 2-1 win at South Sheilds, Hartley knew they were in a hard game having lost 2-0 at Hebburn in October.

Hartley got off to a great start when striker Lewis Xiberras fired the home side in front after only four minutes.

But Hebburn hit back as Adam Robson levelled and Mitchell Pyle sent the visitors in at half-time 2-1 in front.

The score remained the same until the 80th minute when left winger Jak Ditchburn whipped in a great cross for substitute debutant Adam Greenwood to prod home to level the scores.

Hartley’s winner five minutes from time was ‘deja vu’ as Ditchburn crossed again, this time it was another sub, Dan Troy, who was also making his debut, that fired home the winner.

There is no Christmas break for New Hartley as they are in action on Saturday with another league game at Benfield, kick-off 1.30pm.
