AFTER a mixed week, New Hartley Juniors got back to winning ways with a 5-0 win in the Durham FA County Cup over Newton Aycliffe.

After going down 6-5 in an incredible game at Cowgate on Monday they then travelled to Ryhope on Thursday and with a scratch side gained a 1-1 draw against a side that won six of their seven games so far this season.

Matthew Weir put the Wearsiders in front in the first half but Liam McNamarra levelled for Hartley moments into the second half.

Saturday’s game saw Hartley again take the field without several key players but they managed to ease through into the next round.

Liam Gillespie put Hartley one up and Brad McClelland doubled the lead before half-time.

The second half saw Hartley take full control with McClelland getting his second and moments later the scorer turned provider after good wing play saw him square to Johnny Lowes to put Hartley four up.

The fifth and final goal saw Sam Norris net with a good finish.
