New league all set for kick-off

A NEW six-a-side community football league will kick-off at Blyth Sports Centre on October 28.

And organisers are appealing for teams to register.

The new season will run every Sunday between 6pm and 8pm in the sports hall for 35-minute games.

It will cost £4 per player with space available for up to 16 teams.

League manager Curtis Piggon said: “This is the first time we have organised a community league at the Blyth Sports Centre.

“All equipment is provided, including free shirts for all new teams.

“I will be writing weekly match reports with scorers names and will also be including comments from team captains, which will help to give a really professional feel to the league.”

The league is FA Affiliated with qualified referees officiating.

There is no entry or registration fee to the league and teams are able to use flexible squads.

The National Six-a-side Cup is held every July at London Soccerdome and the top two teams from the league will qualify.

Anyone interested in taking part should register online at or text Curtis on 07989 601023.
