NEWCASTLE United’s French contingent are heading to Brazil after a remarkable comeback in their World Cup play-off.

France beat Ukraine 3-0 in Paris last night to quality for next summer’s finals.

Didier Deschamps’s side had been written off after the first leg in Kiev, which they lost 2-0.

Newcastle duo Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy started the game, while Moussa Sissoko and on-loan Loic Remy were unused substitutes at the Stade de France, where Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho netted twice and Karim Benzema was also on target.

Cabaye and his international team-mates will report back to Tyneside tomorrow ahead of United’s home game against Norwich City on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul was an unused substitute for Holland, who drew 0-0 with Columbia in Amsterdam.
