Beaten and clearly disappointed by Monday’s 3-1 derby defeat, Ashington manager Gary Middleton freely admitted that he had no complaints with the result.
He said he thought Bedlington were the better outfit.
“We were beaten by the better team on the day but I was bitterly disappointed with our performance from start to finish - and that sort of performance isn’t good enough for Ashington Football Club or the supporters as wasn’t Saturday’s display at Crook Town,” he said.
“I thought we did all right in a first half ... and were a little bit unlucky to concede right on half-time because we had had some chances as well.
“We got ourselves back into the game with that early goal from Andrew Johnson and I thought it was going to kick start us into action.
“However, we have pressed the self destruct button - you can’t legislate for the second and third goals – and I have no complaints with the result.”
