A youngster from south east Northumberland has been picked to represent England at football.
Bedlingtonshire Community High School’s Stephanie Stafford has been selected to play in England Women’s football at U17 level.
The 16-year-old, who is in Year 11 at the school, plays for Durham U16s as well as the county female team.
She had to go through three trials to get selected.
She said: “I just can’t wait to play.”
Assistant headteacher Jamie Bell said: “As a school we are very proud of Stephanie and she adds to the list of successful sports stars we have had at the school following on from Kyle Cameron, who left two years ago and has represented both England and Scotland at different levels of international football.”
