ONCE again the weather took its toll on the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League with cup games to be rearranged for this weekend.
On Sunday will be the Saints Shield Final at Bedlington Terriers’ ground, where Ashington Bubbles will be up against North Shields Royal Arms with a 10.30am start.
In the George Davison Cup quarter-final, New Delaval and Newsham reached the semi-final with a 4-1 home win against West Allotment.
Goals for Newsham came from Paddy Allen (2), Jason Hamilton and Craig Frazer. Sam Todd scored the consolation goal for Allotment.
Red Lion Earsdon booked their place in the Eric Anderson final with a 4-1 win against Lynemouth Institute.
Jon Shortt scored the goal for Institute, with Michael Hartley (3) and Dean Ellis on target for Red Lion.
Another side reaching a semi-final was North Shields Royal Arms in the Alan Davison Cup.
They defeated Ashington Hoose at home 2-1 with a double from Scott Pocklington. On target for Hoose was Martin Humble.
Division one saw Ashington Bubbles win a derby game 4-2 at home against Wansbeck Flavour Bar.
On target for Bubbles was star striker Kris Allington with another hat-trick and Tony Messenger Stephen Frater and Chris Philips scored for Flavour Bar.
High Street went down in a five-goal thriller at home against Ashington Grand.
Anthony Goldie and Adam Emmerson scored for Street while a Michael Todd hat-trick won it for Grand.
The only game in division two saw Marden Residents win 3-1 at Ashington White House.
Andy McLennen scored for White House, but Liam Parr, Jordan Fry and Gavin Horsie won it for Marden.
