STAND-in skipper Liam Atkin is urging his team-mates and the club’s fanatic supporters for ‘more of the same’ when the Colliers travel down Cleethorpes for Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Grimsby Town.
Central defender Atkin said: “We will be the underdogs but that is nothing new to us as we had that tag around our necks in the last two rounds against Vauxhall Motors and Guiseley.
“We are confident, and if the lads produce more of the same as in the past rounds, I believe we are more than capable of getting a result.
“The cup run has not been easy. Before Vauxhall and Guiseley we had to knock out top side Shildon from our own league, so we fully deserve to be where we are and the lads have been brilliant.
“We will probably be playing in front of a couple of thousand spectators but we have proved that despite facing a higher league club we can take them on – and beat them.
“We have good players in our side who could play at a higher level and I think we can still go further.
“We are also a side full of confidence and will be looking to win down there.
“People are not expecting us to do that but why not? Our players are good enough.”
Meanwhile, Atkin, pictured, has called on the travelling army of supporters to reach new noise levels at Blundell Park.
“The backing we received in the replay at Vauxhall and against Guiseley was unbelieveable,” he said.
“I know they will be fully behind us and I hope we can reward them.”
If a replay is required, it will take place at Woodhorn Lane on Tuesday November 1, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
