Spartans handed Gateshead Trophy incentive

BLYTH Spartans FC have been handed the perfect incentive ahead of tonight’s FA Trophy third round replay against fellow Blue Square North side Droylsden.

If Mick Tait’s side can progress at the Butchers Arms Ground in tonight’s replay, they will host their bitter rivals Gateshead in the next round.

Blyth have not faced Blue Square Premier side Gateshead since the Tyneside club were promoted during the 2008-09 season, when Gateshead did the double over them – as well as knocking them out of the Setanta Shield – meaning Blyth will be looking for revenge if they are successful tonight.

The fourth round ties are scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 26.
