Spartans Under-15s suffer first defeat of year in cup semi-final

BLYTH Spartans Under-15s suffered their first defeat of 2012 in the divisional cup semi-final against Bedlington.

The oppostion, who play two divisions higher than Blyth, started brightly and took the lead within ten minutes.

For the remainder of the tie the two sides traded attack after attack.

As the game wore on it was obvious that the next goal would be decisive, and that proved to be the case as with around ten minutes to go Bedlington added a second.

Blyth’s spirit was broken and this resulted in a further three quickfire goals for Bedlington.

There was no hint that Bedlington did not deserve the win, but Blyth can take immense heart in the fact that for more than 60 minutes they matched their opponents.
