Spring Gardens through to semi-final after beating North End Trap

In the quarter-final of the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League George Davison Cup, Spring Gardens beat Broomhill North End Trap by the odd goal in five.

Shaun Anderson and Kevin Bell scored for the Trap, but a Tony Lucas double and one for Michael Turner proved decisive.

Already through to the final are Burradon and New Fordley, who beat Blyth Waterloo Pub 5-1 thanks to goals from Lee Waugh (2), Scott Pocklington (2) and Kieran Pyle. Martyn Hepple scored the Waterloo consolation.

In the quarter-final of the JD Marnock Cup, Red Lion Earsdon beat visitors Whitehouse Ashington after extra time, with Nicky Thompson scoring the crucial goal.

The semi-final of the Eric Anderson Cup saw last week’s beaten finalists in the Saints Shield Newsham Victory reach another final with a 3-0 home win over Ashington Northern. The goals came from Jamie Harrison, Craig Frazer and an own goal from Kris Coppen.

The only game in the second division saw Bedlington Social Club entertain Ashington Station Lounge and win 3-0 with Connor Montgomery, Chris Philips and Josh Monaghan on target.

Division one saw the much-improved United Services go down by the odd goal in three against league leaders Cramlington Green. Martin Robinson scored for Services, while on target with both goals for Green was Michael Jordan.

Marden Residents lost 3-1 at home against the Saints Shield winners from the previous weekend, High Street. Chris Ridgeway scored for Residents while on target for Street were Anthony Goldie, Anthony Marshall and star man Brandan Nadeem.

On Sunday, Burradon and New Fordley take on Bedlington Social Club in the Alan Davison Cup final at Bedlington Terriers’ Welfare Ground, kick-off 2.30pm.
