Terriers draw Toon reserves

BEDLINGTON Terriers will host Newcastle United Reserves in the quarter-final of the Northumberland FA Senior Cup.

Welfare Park will host the tie as the Magpies’ second strong will come to mid-Northumberland as the current holders.

Blyth Spartans have also been handed a home tie, with Ebac Northern League outfit Whitley Bay drawn to visit Croft Park.

Ashington, meanwhile, face the short trip to Craik Park to take on fellow Northern League outfit Morpeth Town.

The last time the Colliers met Town was in the 2010-11 FA Vase when they won 5-0 away from home.

Ashington boss Gary Middleton said: “It’ll be tough because Morpeth are doing well in the second division.

“They are a well organised, workmanlike side who have already defeated first division Team Northumbria.”

The tie will see a quartet of Morpeth players, Paul Dunn, Marc Walmsley, Mark Grant and goalkeeper Steven Mundy, line-up against their former club.

The other tie will see West Allotment Celtic host near neighbours North Shields.
