The Koast Radio team, managed by former Newcastle United striker Malcolm Macdonald, took on a team of Bedlington old boys.

And it turned out to be an excellent contest that entertained a good crowd, with funds being raised for the Macmillan Foundation.

Bedlington, managed by former management duo Keith Perry and Tony Lowery, proved too strong throughout producing some excellent football over the 90 minutes but full credit to the Koast lads who gave a good account.

Perry, who retired at the end of last season, was delighted with the turn out. He said: “I would like to thank the former players who turned out the likes of John Milner, Steve Boon, Richie Bond, Warren Teasdale, Craig Melrose, Mel Harmison, Nicky Grey, Christian Graham, Tony Shandran, Trevor Benjamin, Tony Chapman, Ronan Liddane, Alex Lawson, Shaun Nicholson and Mike Third for supporting a worthy cause.

“Certainly for Tony, his brother Dave and myself it brought back some truly great memories.”
