Following a deluge of postponements and rearranged fixtures due to the wet weather, the latest batch of adjustments has seen some of the Colliers fixtures rescheduled.

The first on Thursday, April 14, sees Steve Harmison’s squad take on Sunderland RCA at Woodhorn Lane before they bring down the curtain on their home programme with clashes against Dunston on Saturday, April 23, and Marske United on Thursday, April 28.

The RCA clash was originally planned for Saturday, April 30, but the Colliers will now travel to Cumbria on that day to face Penrith.

A club spokesperson said: “I reckon this to be our first home game on a Thursday night since the club reached the semi-finals of the old FA Amateur Cup in 1974 in the last year before it was renamed the FA Vase.

“We had a huge backlog of fixtures and for the last month, the club were playing on consecutive nights with four or five games in six days.”

Ashington’s revised run-in now reads:

Saturday, April 9, v Jarrow Roofing (away); Thursday, April 14, v Sunderland RCA (home); Wednesday, April 20, v Norton & Stockton Ancients (away); Saturday, April 23, v Dunston (home); Thursday, April 28, v Marske United (home); Saturday, April 30, v Penrith (away); Wednesday, May 4, v Shildon (away); Saturday, May 7, v Morpeth Town (away).
