Newbiggin by the Sea Juniors FC U18s hosted its awards presentation night to celebrate their successul final season in Junior football.
The squad of 17 enjoyed tremendous successi n The Pin Point Recruitment Junior Football League, Nigel Voules League.
Manager Barry Ternent said: “At times, we had the bare bones of a team of 11 due to work commitments but still showed how much character we had.
“As the league season was played over 16 games home and away, they went on a 14-game winning run. The league was won at home to Kingston Park with a fantastic 4-0 win.
It was only on the 15th game they drew with Willington Quay 2-2, eventual runners up, and losing the final game against Kingston Park, who finished in third.
“We won the league by eight points, a fantastic achievement.
“At the club presentation awards, the Players’ Player Das an Hudson, the managers player award went to Matthew Nelson and Sam Bethel.
“The Chairman’s award went to the whole squad for their achievement, but a special mention was to Rhyan Clark, who actually played for our Senior club, AFC Newbiggin in the Northern Alliance Premier League, all being a couple of games at the age of 17 years old.”
