AFTER two league draws in succession, Blyth Rangers Valencia Under-16s got back to winning ways with a comfortable 4-1 win over Northburn Wanderers to maintain their unbeaten start to 2012.
Liam Sinkinson went close when he raced clear only for his shot to come back off the post. Josh Carr then spurned a couple of efforts to give Blyth the lead.
Northburn played well from midfield but it was only a matter of time before Blyth took the lead, and Jack Young’s cross after some clever running off the ball from Carr, found Robert Goodall who made no mistake firing into the roof of the net.
Second half was much of the same and Carr fired in at the second attempt from just outside the area to make it two-nil.
Northburn were then awarded a penalty when Michael Morris was harshly judged to of made contact in the box.
Alex Robertson saved the spot kick but could only watch as the follow up was uncontested and placed into the bottom corner.
Within seconds Blyth restored their two-goal lead.
Some good work down the left got Young into the box and he squeezed past two defenders to make it 3-1.
Andrew Asman played in Ross Laidlaw who fired in low through the keeper’s legs to make it four and Laidlaw almost grabbed a fifth late on.
Man of the match Connor Vincent was commended for a great defensive display in midfield before moving to right back in the second half.
