Ashington’s recent acquisition from Bedlington Terriers, Dylan Williamson, was more than happy with his contribution on Saturday as he netted the first goal and claimed an assist during the 4-0 win over West Allotment Celtic.
And the 24-year-old believes he is now more at home at Woodhorn Lane.
“I struggled to get going the first couple of games but I’m starting to feel as if I’ve settled in now,” he said.
“The last few days have been great. We played well down at Shildon and although we got off to a slow start today and didn’t play particularly well, I’m sure it was down to a bit of tiredness.”
Williamson praised skipper Andrew Johnson for the through ball which set up his opener inside two minutes.
“It was a lovely ball from Andrew,” he added.
“I pulled it down, it’s bounced then I just hit it on the half volley and was happy to see it fly in.”
Williamson’s unselfish pass midway through the second period set up Ashington’s third, slid in by Johnson.
He said: “I saw him running in so I thought I would put the ball across for him to score and it’s put the game to bed for us.”
Williamson is now looking for the Colliers to maintain their form in the remaining six league games
He added: “We need to push on, but the way we are playing, I see no reason why we can’t go unbeaten until the end of the season.”
