Wins for Portland and Last Orders

ON Sunday the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck League is staging two more finals at Bedlington Terriers’ Welfare Park.

At 10.30am is the JD Marnock Cup final between Ashington Portland and Blyth Last Orders.

Then at 2.30pm, Burradon and New Fordley will try for their third trophy of the season when the take on Blyth Comrades in the George Davison Cup.

In division one on Sunday, there were wins for Burradon and New Fordley and High Street.

Burradon eased past West Allotment 6-0 with goals from Michael Chilton (3), Ian Lee, David Atkinson and Ryan Hutchinson.

High Street won 3-0 at home against Bedlington Commumity with Anthony Goldie (2) and Chris Laidlaw on target.

North Shields Royal Arms and Wansbeck Flavour played out a goaless draw, as did Blyth Comrades and Ashington Hoose.

In division two, AE Phoenix lost 3-2 at home against New Delaval and Newsham. Stephen Scott and Michael Freathy scored for Phoenix while Craig Danielson, Craig Frazer and Joe Race were on target for the winners.

Ashington White House beat Newsham Victory 2-0 courtesy of a Graeme Robinson double.

Bay Horse went goal crazy with an 8-2 home win against FC Beacon. John Leonard led the scoring with a hat-trick. Karl Boughen added two more with further goals came from Wayne Carr, David Louther and Michael Jordan. On target for Beacon was Dan Atherton (2).

Forest Hall played out a 1-1 draw at home against Red Lion Earsdon. Keith Kennedy put Lion ahead but a last minute penalty from Mark Compton levelled.

Lynemouth Institute went down 2-0 at home against Blyth Percy Arms. Darren and Kyle Walker the scorers.
