New Hartley Juniors made their furthest trip of the season and returned empty handed after going down to the odd goal in three to a useful Darlington side.
Again, Hartley fielded a young and depleted team due to regulars away on county duty, and they could have found themselves two down after 15 minutes but keeper Matty Garland was in top form.
Hartley broke the deadlock on 35 minutes when a great move involving Kris Sands and Cam Cunningham saw the build-up finished off by Dan McGuire.
Darlington turned up the pressure in the second half and levelled with a header on the hour, then went in front five minutes later.
Hartley pressed and forced five corners in the last ten minutes with Cunningham and Owen Seed going close, but the Quakers held on.
Hartley’s 16-year-old captain Josh Tait was man of the match.
