ASHINGTON’S former Ashes winning pace bowler Stephen Harmison will be the guest speaker next month when Bedlington Cricket Club stage a sportsman’s dinner, with the proceeds going towards the running of the club.
The event will take place at Morpeth Riverside Lodge on Friday, September 30, when Durham Cricket Club star Harmison will be joined by ex-Newcastle United and Hartlepool striker Joe Allon, who will also host the evening.

The evening has a 7.30pm start and an auction and a raffle will also take place.
On the pitch, Bedlington’s first XI are enjoying a successful season to date.
They are currently top of the SG Wealth Management Northumberland Premier Division; have already won the Wilson Cup with victory over Stocksfield and were due to meet Warkworth in another trophy final this week.
Meanwhile, on Friday, August 19, brothers Stephen and Ben Harmison are to take a select XI over to Hirst Head to play Bedlington (6pm).
Club spokesperson Colin Campbell said: “We also have a thriving junior section with sessions taking place at our ground on Friday evenings from 6pm to 7.30pm.”
