A cricket match In memory of the late Ian Robinson is to be staged at Bomarsund Welfare on Sunday, July 28.
Greg Williams is one of a number of players who played at the same time as Ian.
He said: “Ian used to play junior cricket and a bit of senior cricket at Ashington.
“He then played for Bomarsund, Ashington Workshops then Ellington Combine.
“Ian was in the Army before he died a few months ago so a selection of lads who played cricket with him over the years at Ashington and Bomarsund are pleased to come together to stage a game in his honour.”
The match, to be held at Bomarsund Welfare, has a 1.30pm start and there will be a raffle on the day with refreshments also available.
Williams added: “We are hoping for a good turn out from the public with all proceeds from the day going to Help the Heroes.”
