Ashington were unlucky not to win this entertaining game, Whitby drawing level with a converted try with the final move of the game.

Whitby took the lead with an early penalty. Arkle then went over for a converted try and a McKay penalty made it 10-3, but Whitby scored a try for 10-8 at half-time.

A penalty gave the visitors a 10-11 lead, but Greg Henderson barged over for a second Ash try.

Whitby retook the lead with a converted try, but back came the home side through, Johnny Storey, McKay adding the conversion. With 10 minutes left McKay extended Ashingtons lead to 25-18.

But Whitby finished t strongly, and with the final play drove over for a converted try to level.
