Two members of Ashington ABC were in action at the King Oswy Workingmen’s Club in Hartlepool recently, one a fight, the other a skills bout.
First up was the skills bout with 11-year-old Kieron Howe representing Ashington against K Sheivals, of North Road.
Howe boxed well behind the jab and landed some good right hands.
Then next up to the apron was Josh Johnstone, coming off the back of a split decision with Scottish champion from Chirnside ABC, Ben Grant.
Johnstone’s opponent was Cameron Renwick, of North Road.
The Ashington lad boxed well with good combinations with body and head.
He was finding his target by the second round then upped the pace by the third, coming away after a great display of boxing with a unanimous verdict.
Head coach Alan Buller said: “Well done to both lads who were a credit to their club, and I was well pleased going off that display by Kieron, he will do well.”
