Ashington thrashed an under-strength Hartlepool BBOB 99-7 in a one-sided game at the Rec on Saturday.
BBOB turned up with only 12 men and now seem doomed to relegation.
Ashington took advantage of the wide open spaces running in 15 tries, 12 converted by Elliot.
The star of the day was young winger Ryan Dodds who went over six times, relishing in the opportunity to show his exceptional pace.
Ashington were 59-0 up at half-time but lost some focus in the second half, enabling the battling BBOB team to score a converted try.
Ashington’s other try scorers were full-back Simon Barber (3), winger Shaun Nichol (2), who scored the first try with a jinking run, centres Nathan Whitworth (2) and Andrew Elliot, who individually scored a total of 29 points, and skipper Ben Butler, who was the only forward to successfully cross the try line.
The win means Ashington are now well clear of the relegation positions and moved them up to fourth from bottom. Only a series of strange results could see them being relegated from this position.
