Nearly 40 runners took part in the sixth and final race of Blyth Running Club’s Summer Cup series.
Weather conditions were ideal along the normal course around the promenade, with more than half the runners setting their fastest times.
The race was won by Julie Lemin who had a commanding lead over second place Ron Ingram, while Alf Margisson was a further 20 seconds back in third place.
All three set their best times and each improved on their previous race by over a minute.
The fastest time on the night was set by Jake Jansen on his return from America, while Heather Christopher set the fastest time by a Lady.
The final positions in the League were extremely close.
Louise Rawlinson was the overall winner with a total score of 35 points from her scoring finishes of third, sixth, seventh and 19th.
Only three points behind in joint second place with 38 points were Andrea Scott (2nd, 2nd, 14th and 20th) and new member Alfred Margison (2nd, 3rd, 5th and 28th).
Due to the summer holidays, the Juniors had to present two Athlete of the Month Awards and July’s went to Sam Browning, while Erin Scott picked up the August award, and both now go into the running for the annual award.
