Premises have been secured for the new Darts North East Youth Academy.
It is to be based at the YMCA building at 101 Croft House, Waterloo Road in Blyth.
The academy, a non-profit making organisation, will be open in mid-October and will take in boys and girls aged between nine and 16.
The aim is for youngsters to enjoy the sport of darts through becoming members for a nominal membership fee of £3 per player.
Sessions will be held on Monday and Tuesday evenings and Saturday morning.
These will be in age groups, with times between 6pm and 7.30pm, and 7.45pm and 9.15pm, and on Saturday 10am to 11.30am.
Many over 16s are already playing in local competitions and some in super leagues and national competitions.
A spokesperson for the academy said: “We will be playing different games and having cup competitions and mini leagues.
“This will help youngsters with their maths skills through marking games and counting scores.
“All sessions will be at the academy and it is not anticipated that we will join any youth leagues.
“The academy will introduce young players to the sport and progress them further with practice and training.”
The price per session will be £3 per player.
