Pre-season training is well under way at Blyth Rugby Club with sessions being well attended under the new coaching set up of Scott Robinson as lead coach assisted by several key positional coaches.
There has been in excess of 30 regularly attending and there are plans to bring in specialist coaches from around the county as the season progresses.
First team captain Karl Rose, a product of Blyth’s youth development section, is looking forward to the start of the season with a trial game at Ponteland on Sunday, August 21.
He has a young side available this season with ample opportunity for the players to develop into a competitive first team squad.
Blyth are looking to run three sides and all players new or former players, young or old are welcome.
A new shirt sponsor is lined up along with other local sponsors who are keen to get involved in what looks like a squad to take Blyth forward over the coming seasons.
As the town is hosting the Tall Ships Race over the bank holiday weekend, the rugby club are playing their part, with the fields let out to the Motor Home of Great Britain society, who have almost 80 vehicles attending for the weekend.
There will be a beer festival with marquee tent on the Saturday and Sunday, and a family fun day arranged for Sunday, there is a packed programme of events with all welcome.
