Blyth Running Club were well represented at the Junior Great North Run on Saturday with two athletes in particular having outstanding runs.
Josh Fiddaman was third in the under-15 boys’ race while Jake Masterman was fourth in the under-17 boys’ event.
Then on the Sunday, more than 30 senior club members took part in the 13.1 miles Great North Run from Newcastle to Gateshead.
First back for Blyth was Jake Jansen, who had an excellent run to finish in a highly respectable time of 1 hour 19 minutes.
The first Blyth Lady was Rachelle Falloon, who could be well pleased with her time of 1 hour 51 minutes.
Over 50,000 people entered this year’s event and many did not belong to a running club. Blyth is always on the lookout for new members of all abilities.
Club secretary Ralph Dickinson said: “Joining a club like this keeps you fit and running with a group of people is always easier than running on your own.
“You get to socialise with friends, as well as do exercise, which is great.
“We welcome people of all abilities to come along and join us.
“We have groups, and sessions, for all ages and abilities from beginners to more experienced runners.
“We meet twice a week and would love to have new members come along. Even if someone hasn’t trained for years, now could be the time to get back involved.”
Club nights are Monday and Wednesday and the club meet at Blyth Sports Centre at 6.45pm. Alternatively email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (01670) 362668.
