NEWBIGGIN Boxing Club will kick off its 25th season with their first tournament at Newbiggin Sports Centre.

There will be new faces on show on Friday as Billy Sankey, Joe Tyers, Ben Rees, Charlie Burt, Brandon Singer and Alex Rayne have their first bouts.

The main event of the evening is a middleweight clash between Newbiggin’s Lewis Scott and Middlesbrough’s James Kilvington, over three, three-minute rounds.

Big puncher Keiran Robertson is looking for knockout number three in a row, while Ben Young is looking for revenge against Daniel Lofts, of Brambles Farm.

Joe Tyers, Carl McLaughlin, Robert Wilson and current schoolboy champion Kai Hume are all facing opponents from Kettering in the midlands.

Richy Stafford and Ryan Davidson take on local opponents on the show.

The MC for this special event will be Tyne Tees sports reporter Andy Kerr.

An auction will be held, and the items will be two signed gloves, one from Roy Jones Junior, and one from Smokin Joe Frazier. Both signed the gloves while visiting the boxing club.

The doors open at 7pm and boxing starts at 7.45pm.

Ring side is now sold out, but other tickets are available on the door.
