ASHINGTON Amateur Boxing Club super heavyweight Stephen Burrell travelled to Redcar Workingmen’s Club last Friday in only his second fight after a points win in his first.
He was up against David Windsor from the host club.
Burrell drew blood in the first round and was in command.
Then only 20 seconds into the second Burrell threw a thundering right to the jaw of his south paw opponent and followed up with a left hook to the temple.
This knocked Windsor to the canvas and forced the referee to intervene and stop the fight.
The long wait to see him box, the last of 15 bouts on the card, was well worth it in the end.
Coach Alan Buller said Burrell did really well.
The club have done well in recent times with some good young boxers coming through the ranks.
