Chris Dobey takes darts league’s singles title

Reay Security Wednesday Night Blyth Darts League held their end of season presentation night at New Delaval and Newsham Social Club, where Chris Dobey was crowned singles champion.

Dobey, an up and coming new star on the professional circuit, played against Micky Adams from The Spartans and won 3-0.

The Percy player was presented with a cheque, crystal vase and trophy by Julie Cardill, wife of the league’s vice-chairman.

After thanking sponsors Storage Equipment Safety Services and Victory Signs, both of Cramlington, KD Roofing, Stephen Adams Carpet Fitter, local pubs and clubs within the league and especially Steven Reay, of Reay Security, for their ongoing sponsorship, competition winning trophies were presented to - League, 1001, Billy McKay Cup and Stephen Adams KO Cup: The Comrades; League runner-up and Rob Reay Cup: The Percy; 1001 runner-up and S Adams KO Cup runner-up: The Seahorse; KD Roofing Cup: The Vic, runner-up Newsham Club.

Peter Allen Junior of The Vic was named Sportsman of the Year. Highest finish went to Jimmy Darbyshire of The Seahorse, with a checkout of 146. Most 180s went to Chris Dobey, and doubles winners were Dobey and Gary Broadhead, again of The Percy.
