THE BVPA Super-Cup, sponsored by Goschen St Garage & Union Private Hire, saw the round robin stages go to a dramatic last round in Group A with only one point seperating the two Comrades teams in second and third place.
With Bedlington Station already qualified as group winners, it was up to Comrades B needing only to match the A team’s score to qualify as runners-up.
Comrades B had a tremendous result against Bedlington Station, winning 8-4, while the A team could only manage a 7-5 victory against Cramlington Village B.
The final result in the group saw Annitsford Irish beat the Side Club 7-5.
In Group B, with qualification virtually certain with the Percy Arms winning the group and the Sports Club A runners-up, the Sports Club B beat Percy Arms 7-6 to record their best result of the season.
The Sports A came from 3-0 down at the Brockwell Seam to win 7-5.
In the final game, the Seahorse continued their recent great form with a 9-3 victory against Cramlington Village A.
The semis and finals will be played at Blyth Sports Club on Thursday, May 24, using two tables.
Bedlington Station will play the Sports Club A in the first semi whilst Percy Arms play Comrades B in the other.
All trophies and prize monies will be awarded on the night.
As the inaugaral season enters its last month, all the knockout competitons are being played to qualify for the final nights.
In the three-a-side knockout, the Sports Club A have two teams in the last four, the A’s first team beat Bedlington Station first team 5-1, whilst the seconds had a much tougher game beating the Comrades A’s first team 5-3.
Bedlington Station’s second team beat the Comrades B’s firsts 5-1.
The last quater-final guaranteed a team outside the top six a place in the semi-finals, and the Annitsford Irish beat Cramlington Village B’s first team.
The draw for the semis will be made on the finals night at Blyth Sports Club, Monday, May 21, with the matches being played to a conclusion.
