CRAMLINGTON Rockets were beaten finalists in the under-14 competition of the North East Junior Rugby League Cup Final day held at Peterlee Pumas.
Up against Durham Tigers in the final, they kicked off and gave possession to the Tigers who attacked hard.
Alex Duke attacked the Rockets line but was stopped five yards out, but a pass out to Ryan Cooper on the left wing saw him break through the defence to score in the corner.
For the next 20 minutes it was a case of attack and defence by both sides and it looked like it was going to turn into a low scoring game.
Tigers then got the bit between their teeth when Macauley Barker received the ball and raced down the right wing to score in the corner.
Two minutes later came a repeat of the first try after good runs by Kane Young and Luke Miller, with Duke taking the ball within a couple of yards of the line before being stopped then the ball being passed out to Cooper who again put the ball down in the corner.
Rockets made one last attack before the half-time whistle but were stopped short of the line.
Rockets came out fighting and within two minutes had broken though the Tigers defence with a superb play.
The conversion was successful and put them on level terms.
Rockets restarted but Tigers received and ran it through for another try by Matty Lovegreen.
Over the next 15 minutes Tigers managed five more tries by Barker, Ben Hoggart, Cooper, Duke and Young, with two conversions by Lovegreen and Bielby.
For the remainder of the game it was back to attack and defence by both sides.
