THE Ian Whillis Memorial Darts Trophy resumed with round four attracting a 20-strong field.
The night would belong to Arthur Dobey and Graeme Stoddart.
Dobey saw off challenges from Lee Williams and Graham Fletcher before taking the spoils in a hard fought victory against Micky Luke by four legs to two.
Stoddart stated his intentions with a good win against Chris Dobey before pitting his wits against Tyne and Wear’s Paul Williams in an evenly matched game.
With Stoddart leading 3-2, Williams hit the leg of the night – 140, 180, 140 and 41 check-out in 12 darts to level.
But Stoddart would not be denied, taking out 90 in the last leg with 20, 20, bull’s-eye.
He went on to claim his finals night place with another hard fought win against Jamie Martin by four legs to two.
In the ladies’ Milton Anderson Memorial Darts Trophy, Sonia McGregor and Geraldine Jones marched on to finals night in August.
McGregor with impressive wins against Natalia Kelly and Janice Fairhurst and Jones showing solid form with wins against Rachel Brown and a three legs to two cliff hanger against Debbie Waugh.
