Emphatic win to end season for Blyth tennis team

The summer tennis season ended for Blyth Ridley Tennis Club with an 8-0 win by the men’s over 45s in the N and D League.

The club’s ladies over 40s, men’s over 45s and men’s over 55s acquitted themselves well, maintaining their places in their divisions.

Although the tennis club, based in Bath Terrace, has three teams playing competitively, the club is primarily a ‘social tennis’ club. It welcomes new players.

This autumn and winter the club will continue to play social tennis on Saturday and Thursday afternoons.

During the recent school holidays the club arranged children’s coaching sessions at Ridley Park.

Next year, in arrangement with Bede Academy, further coaching sessions will be held during the summer term.

The LTA nationally is encouraging ladies to take up tennis as part of the Healthy Living Campaign.
