Empire Boxing Club’s rising star Stubley wins two bouts

The Empire School of Boxing in Blyth head coach Les Welsh believes they have found a real star in Savannah Stubley.

The club recently travelled to Hulton Abbey in Stoke to box the only girl to date to beat Stubley, Tori Gilbert.

The show was a sell out and both girls produced a high standard of boxing.

Both girls served up something special and Stubley took the bout on a unanimous points decision.

The team then travelled to London for the Five Star ABC show.

Two Empire boxers were on the bill. Lewis Percival fought M Laydon from the home club, and after three great rounds Percival lost a points decision.

A disappointed Welsh said he thought his charge had won with the better boxing skills and punching.

Next up was Stubley against London sensation B Eaton, and after three scintillating rounds both girls had given there all as Stubley took the contest on a points decision.

Welsh said: “We have had to put the miles in to get our boxers contests and we will travel anywhere in this country or others to make sure they get the very best schooling.”

The coaching team at the club are now working hard to get the boxers ready for the next home show on May 22 at Seaton Delaval Workingmen’s Club, which promises to be a sell out.
