Blyth Running Club recently held the fifth race in their Summer Cup – a series of six 2.5 miles races along the promenade and beach path.
The races are handicapped so that every runner has an equal chance of winning the race and 45 runners started and finished the race.
On a warm, sunny night with a cooling sea breeze, Erin Scott set her fastest time of the series so far as she overtook long time leader Alison Lowes in the last 100 metres to win by four seconds.
Lowes held on for second position with Terry McCabe in third, nine seconds behind her.
The fastest runner on the night was Brad Clough, while Heather Christopher was the fastest lady.
The last race in the series is Wednesday, September 10, start time 7.15pm.
Blyth Running Club welcome any new runners of any age/ability, so if anyone wants to join Blyth then they just need to turn up at Blyth Sports Centres on Monday or Wednesday at 6.45pm, email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact (01670) 362668.
