SEGHILL RFC Juniors got a real treat on Thursday night when Geordie lad and Newcastle Falcons legend Micky Ward turned up to take their training session.
Ward, currently in a testimonial season after 15 years with the Falcons, took time out of his busy schedule to take the session and offer tips and advice to the youngsters.
Now on the Falcons coaching staff, as well as playing at prop, Ward concentrated on coaching scrummaging skills with the young Seghill forwards, but also gave general advice on training techniques and fitness.
Coaches Mick McLean, Nick Power, and Gary Miller, who organised the visit, were delighted to have Ward at the club to pass on his vast experience to their young squad.
At the end of the evening, Ward commented on how much he had enjoyed the session and hoped to return to the club again in the future. The lads agreed they would love to have him back.
