Gordon Dobey takes Northumberland CIU Singles title

The Northumberland CIU Singles final took place at Bedlington Station WMC with 14 players fighting for the prestigious title.

Chris Dobey beat Ian Arkle 3-0 in the first game of the day, while at the same time Matty Willis saw off Micky Hoffman 3-1.

S Reed and M Hedley both progressed with 3-2 victories over C Tweddle and M Towart respectively, as did Gordon Dobey and Paul Bell against KThorburn and Arthur Dobey by three legs to one.

The quarter-finals all finished with the same score, 3-0, Chris Dobey beating Matty Willis,

Gordon Dobey beating S Reed, Joe Reed beating S Cowan, both of who had first round byes, and Paul Bell beating M Hedley.

In the semi-finals Gordon Dobey and Chris Dobey locked horns with Gordon proving to be the master this time with a 4-0 victory.

In the second semi-final Joe Reed had to dig deep to take a 4-3 win against Paul Bell.

In the final Dobey kept up his masterclass of darts with a 4-1 trophy winning game against a worthy opponent in Reed.
