A 13-year-old has become the first swimmer representing Morpeth ASC to be invited to compete at the British Summer Swimming Championships in August at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
Hannah Seymour achieved qualification following times recorded at the North East Regional Championships, also in Sheffield.
She competed in four events at the championships.
In three of these she reached the finals and won joint silver in 50m backstroke, recording a personal best of 31:61.
This ranks her joint ninth fastest female swimmer in the 14 year age group this year in the UK and as a result, the King Edward VI School student has been invited to compete in the British Championships.
In two other events she reached the finals and recorded personal best times of 30:76 in the 50m butterfly, finishing in seventh place, and in the 100m backstroke event she finished ninth with a time of 1:09.97.
These two swims have resulted in invitations to compete in the English ASA Summer Championships later in August.
As a result of her swimming performances she has also been accepted to participate in the Talent Inspiration Programme being held over three days at Manchester Metropolitan University in September.
