The Empire School of Boxing in Blyth is holding a show at Newsham and New Delaval Workingmen’s Club on Friday night from 8pm.

The Club has been working hard on the event to provide the boxers a stage to perform.

Head coach Les Welsh said: “Our boxers are a credit to us as a gym and themselves for the work they put in.

“All the local favourites will be on display as well as new additions to the team, Lee Welsh and old boy Rob Varey returning to pursue their boxing careers.

“I can only hope it is like the last one held at the same venue as it was a great show by the boxers with strong, skilful performances.

“The crowd were amazing and this is why we came back to our home town because of them.

“I have said it before and I will say it again, no one supports sport, or indeed boxing, like the people of Blyth. They are knowledgeable, very fair and well behaved.”

The October 2 show is heading for another sell out but there will be a few tickets on the door on the night.
