Annitsford Irish A 3 Comrades Club B 9
The score is correct, the Irish A suffered their 1st defeat of the season in a game that has already been hailed as the greatest game in living memory. frame 1, Chris Gill, break & dish. frame 2, Gary Wilson, break & dish. frame 3, Gary Spooner, break & dish. frame 4, Kevin Mcgarry, 8-ball clearance. Frame 5, Irish miss black for another 8-ball clearance & Scotty Chisholm clears the table, frame 6, James Taylor, break & dish. frame 7, Gary Wilson, 8-ball clearance from a dry break. Frame 8, John laird clears his last 2 colour's to make it 6-2 to the Comrades B. Frame 9, Jamie Balfour, break & dish. frame 10, Scotty Chisholm, break & dish. frame 11, Scotty Chisholm & Gary Wilson clear the last 4 colour's & the black with 2 visits to win the 1st scotch doubles. frame 12, Kevin Mcgarry & John Laird, break & dish to seal a 9-3 victory. the match lasted 65 minutes in total with frames averaging just over 5 minutes each. The Irish remain in top spot with 84 points averaging a very impressive 8.4 points per match which the chasing pack are struggling to match. The Comrades B just hold onto 2nd place with 79 points averaging 7.9 points per game.
Bedlington Station Club 9 Sports Club C 3
The Station v the Sports C was the other true highlight in this weeks fixtures with 3rd & 4th placed Super League teams going head to head for the 1st of 3 occasions in the 2015/16 season. The Station followed up last weeks win at the Comrades B with a solid 9-3 home win over the Sports C. Both teams maintain their places in the table, the Station are 3rd with 76 points averaging 7.6 points per game, whilst the Sports C hold onto 4th place with 63 points & a 6.3 points per match average.
Comrades Club A 5 Annitsford Irish 7
League form was turned on its head as the Irish B raced into a 6-2 lead with a little help from lady luck!. The Comrades staged a comeback taking 3 frames in a row & taking the match to a final frame decider. A double on the final black sealed the victory for the Irish. Despite the loss, the Comrades A move up 1 place to 6th with 57 points. The Irish B celebrated their 2nd win of the season by also moving up a place to 10th with 46 points.
Newsham Side Club 8 Seahorse B 4
The Side Club defied the league standings to record their 2nd win of the season & moved up a place to 9th with 47 points. The Seahorse B maintained 5th place with 58 points. The Side Club were inspired by the legend that is Trevor Chadwick returning with a hat trick of points and Dave Hewitson joined him in that club. Alan Erridge 2/3 for Seahorse B, The Side Club won first set of singles 4-1, before the Seahorse came back winning 3-2 in second set.The Side Club put the match beyond doubt winning both doubles.games.
Sports Club B 2 Sun Inn A 10
By all accounts it was a smashing night of 8-ball pool at the Sports with a great bunch of lads,playing the game in a competitive but friendly atmosphere, Man of the Match honours were shared between Carl Sweet, Lee Cook, & Alan Halliday with 3 wins each, Team Captain dropped himself for the doubles despite winning both his singles, giving new signing Gary Dennis his first game with his new team. The match highlighted the Sun A's improved form in recent weeks continued with an emphatic 10-2 away win The victory, which was the Sun A's 4th of the season saw them climb 1 place to 7th with 54 points. The Sports B dropped 2 places to 11th with 43 points.
The Seahorse A had their bye this week and results elsewhere saw them drop 2 places to 8th with 53 points.
Breakers Bar C 6 Cambois Club 6
Two of the top teams in the Premier League served up some great games with Dean Dobson Cameron Wintrip,James Stewart and Brandon McCann 2 from 3. Breakers C stay in 5th place with 62 points, whilst Cambois Club who also have 62 points are in 4th due to a greater win ratio.
Hastings Arms 4 Sports Club D 8
The Sports D secured their 8th win of the season with a hard fought away win at the Hastings. The teams will actually be playing each other again in the Premier KO next week. Sports D trio Phil Welch, Chris Scott & Sean Craddock were all 100% from their 3 games. The Sports D are 3rd in the table with 79 points whilst the Hastings are in 7th with 52 points in a very competitive mid table.
Percy Arms 3 Breakers Bar A 9
Breakers A remain in top spot with 84 points in the new BVPA Premier League after a solid 9-3 away win at another of the BVPA new teams. The Percy's points came from singles wins from Vince Palmer, Connor Hickson & Paul Dodds. Breakers A Talisman Trevor Brewis continued his 100% perfect singles record winning his 20th singles game on the spin & taking 3 points for his team on the night. Team mate Paul Merrilees was also 100% from his 2 games. Robert Riley & Breakers A Captain chipped in with a brace of points from their 3 games. Averaging 8.4 points a match is a tremendous achievement & it will take some serious effort from the contenders in the league to raise their levels in the 2nd phase of the season. The Percy Arms hold position in 6th with 58 points.
Sports Club A 6 South Beach 6
The Sports A continue to look for that elusive 1st victory & their 2nd draw in 3 weeks shows signs that they will surely get off the mark shortly. The result see's them remain in 11th place with 44 points. South Beach moved up 2 places to 8th with 49 points. The match could of went either way, Marie Murphy & Donna Holmes Bingham were the Sports A's shining lights winning 2 frames each Robert Fairbairn was the Man of the Match winner though with a hat trick of wins, South Beach's other points came from Jonathon Vincent 2, D Dryden & Steven Campbell both with a point each.
Sun Inn B 2 Wharton Arms 10
It was the same old story for the Sun B, throwing away games that were there to be taken. Team Captain Stu Cavens being the worst throwing away both singles in shocking fashion. The Sun were in the match only 2-3 after first set but then all downhill after that. Chances were there but not taken & punished on every occasion by the Wharton team who showed how to finish the games. 3/3 for Jamie Spratt and Christopher Stone and 2/2 for Alan Cunningham.The Wharton Arms & Breakers A are the only 2 teams in the Premier League who have an unbeaten record. The Wharton's 9th win of the season saw them climb a position to 2nd with 79 points & a very healthy 7.9 points per match average. The Sun B dropped 1 place to 9th with 47 points.
Breakers B team had their bye this week and dropped 1 place to 10th with 44 points.
