Jane goes unchallenged to win race

Blyth Running Club recently held their annual handicap race which was led from start to finish by Jane Cassels.

The 6.5-mile route starts at the beach car park and heads north up Collywell Bay Road, past the Delaval Arms pub, then back along the cliff tops and back to Blyth.

More than 30 runners from Blyth gathered for the start, with starter Dave Kitching setting the first runner, Jane Cassels away.

Some 30 minutes later, the last runner, Sam Dodds, was set off. However, nobody could catch Jane as she led from start to finish to win the race by over 20 seconds from second placed Lisa Scorer, with Gemma Harmon in third place.

The first eight finishers were all ladies, with Judith Nutt finishing in seventh position as she set the fastest time by a lady. Although starting last Sam Dodd set the fastest time on the night.
