STUDENTS from Seghill and Battle Hill Judo Clubs took part in a judo course at Seghill’s Institute building.
They performed moves under the guidance of four Shodans – Billy Snowdon, Steve Smith, Damien Anderson and Darren May.
Students were put through their paces with tuition in Tachi waza (standing techniques), Nage waza (groundwork techniques) including various counter and combination techniques.
Sharon May, 4th Dan, was also on hand to examine students for promotion, and the following were awarded: White + 1 Yellow Taylor Naseby, Jason Smith & Owen Moody; White + 2 Yellow James Lowden, Ryan Norris & Devyn Moore; White + 3 Yellow Sean Young & Callum McKenzie; White + 1 Green Joe Moody & Megan Moody; Red + 2 Reece Moody & Joseph Landells; Orange + 1 Chris Sayers; Green + 3 Allanah Harvey; Blue + 1, Tonicha Brown; Blue + 2 Kieran Tweedy; Brown + 1 Porl Harvey.
• Battle Hill Judo club presented two annual awards and the most successful competitor was Joe Moody for the second consecutive year, whilst Judoka award was presented to Sean Young, as the club’s most improved player.
Classes are on a Wednesday at 5.30pm in Churchill Community College.
