Two junior Ashington boxers were in action midweek at the pavilion at Alnwick Gardens.
First up for Ashington was female boxer Daryle Jobling with Aimie Morris from Wales her opponent.
Jobling boxed the first round behind the jab and upped the pace in the second to take control of the contest.
Some heavy body shots caused opponent Morris to take the back foot for the remainder of the bout.
The Ashington boxer proved stronger throughout and there was never any doubt about the unanimous decision in her favour.
Next to take to the ring was young Ashington lad Josh Johnstone, who fought William Hughes from the same Welsh boxing club.
Johnstone’s opponent was an experienced boxer and neither took a backward step with some good combinations and relentless work from Johnstone.
His opponent hit the canvas late in the third round and it was hard to separate them.
It seemed a shame that one boxer had to lose but the decision went the way of the Welsh fighter.
