THE North East Netball Goalden Globe Awards have been presented to volunteers who have gone above and beyond the line of duty in aid of netball in the north east.

Bernie Bell was nominated for the Muriel McNally Award for more than ten years service to the sport.

The regional board were so touched by her nomination it brought a tear to their eyes.

It was well noted she is held in high regard by her club Wansbeck Ladies and Juniors.

As north east regional winner, Bernie’s nomination will now be put forward for a national award.

The winner of this will be announced at the England Netball Goalden Globe Awards in September.

Iris Ritson, from Concordia Ladies Netball, also received an award for her services to umpiring.

Well done to both Bernie and Iris. Northumberland Netball wishes them both good luck in the national awards.
